Winery Cellar Assistant/Brewer
For an expanding Winery & Brewery operation
Prince Michel Vineyard and Winery is seeking a full-time cellar assistant/brewer at our main winery location in Madison, Virginia. This position is unique in that the cellar assistant works in the day to day cellar operations under the direct supervision of the Winemaker as well as assuming responsibilities dictated by the Head Brewer. This includes different aspects of grape harvest and fermentation, cellar organization and maintenance, follow guidance from Head Brewer in the brewing process and all other aspects of day to day beer making operations.
This is an excellent opportunity for an extremely organized, motivated, and detailed individual who is looking for a career in the growing industry of wine making from grape harvest through bottling. Tasks include but are not limited to grape harvest, barrel maintenance and oversight, bottling preparation, sanitation and cellar organization. This position also encompasses a new beer making aspect to the Prince Michel organization. Additional responsibilities include direct involvement in the beer making process.
Ideal Candidates Will Have:

Strong attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills

Availability to work a varied schedule during harvest season (September-October)

Good project management skills with ability to prioritize multiple tasks

Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work with various chemicals in various temperatures

Accuracy with numbers and strong record keeping and inventory skills

Ability to operate a forklift

Ability to work 8+ hour shifts when necessary

Good communication skills – oral and written

Must be at least 21 years of age
Although no experience in Winemaking or Cellar Management/Brewing is required, interest in the practical and technical aspects of the winemaking/fermentation process is preferred.

Prince Michel Winery and the Tap29 Brewery and Pub are looking for hard-working, enthusiastic, and creative individuals who have a passion for cooking and want to increase their knowledge and experience in the food and hospitality industry.
Although experience in the food industry is a major plus for applicants, we are willing to train and enhance your knowledge of food preparation and presentation.
Please apply if you want to work in an exciting, fast-paced kitchen environment where you may be standing for long periods of time, but you will certainly never be bored. You must also be at least 18 years of age and have a task-oriented approach to life.
Compensation includes an hourly base rate plus company discount. Scheduling is based on a part-time, hourly arrangement with weekday, weekend, and evening shifts available since we have just increased service to 7 days a week. Potential for up to 28 hours per week.

Prince Michel Winery and Tap29 Brewery and Pub are hiring part-time employees who have boundless optimism, a passion for making customers feel welcome, and a drive for selling Virginia made products like our award-winning wines and craft beers. We want team players who don’t mind a fast paced, vigorous work environment where you get to not only learn more about the wine and beer industry—you get to education and excite others about it too.
Tasks include conducting wine and beer tastings, stocking products, running a register, greeting customers for curbside service, and helping with tours and events. Hours vary throughout the week/weekend and are based on seasonal and staffing needs.
The right candidate must be able to lift 40 pounds (the weight of a case of wine), stand for long periods of time, have been alive for at least 18 years, and enjoy conversing with a diverse group of incredible co-workers and customers. Ability to perform additional social media and photography tasks is a huge plus!
Compensation includes an hourly base rate, great tips, generous commission, staff discounts on wine, slushies, and gifts as well as opportunities to gain experience in the flourishing wine and beer industry!!
